Kaeppel Consulting is looking for a Technical Lead - Digital Engineering to drive the evolution of our digital experience for auto insurance customers to work for one of our clients in one of the following locations- Jacksonville, FL; Birmingham, AL; Chicago, IL; Alpharetta, GA. This key role will focus on the development and enhancement of web-based and mobile-first applications. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with enterprise architecture, business stakeholders, and IT leadership to shape and execute the digital roadmap. Your leadership will be crucial in transforming the customer experience and ensuring seamless delivery of cutting-edge digital products.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Roadmap Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to define and develop a strategic digital roadmap that aligns with the company’s business goals and drives measurable outcomes.
  • Digital Strategy Leadership: Lead the creation and execution of a customer-centric digital strategy that enhances web and mobile-first experiences for auto insurance customers.
  • Team Management: Oversee and manage a mix of external contractors and internal teams to execute large, cross-functional application systems and ensure timely delivery.
  • Consultation & Needs Analysis: Work closely with senior business and IT stakeholders to understand their technology needs and ensure IT solutions support business objectives.
  • Service Delivery Monitoring: Ensure optimal IT service delivery by continuously monitoring system performance and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Standards & Processes Development: Define and implement best practices and standards for system selection, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide expert guidance, direction, and mentorship to team members, helping to upskill them and ensure quality across the board.
  • Platform Evaluation: Lead Proof-of-Concept (PoC) efforts to assess new platforms, technologies, and capabilities, ensuring the best solutions are selected.
  • System Coordination: Manage cross-functional projects, collaborating with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth system integrations and a superior user experience.
  • Agile & MVP Implementation: Drive the use of agile development methodologies and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approaches to deliver high-quality products quickly and efficiently.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and adapt quickly to evolving priorities, requirements, and roles within a dynamic environment.
  • Executive-Level Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both business and IT executives, ensuring alignment and driving consensus across teams.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for critical business systems, ensuring systems meet or exceed expectations.
  • Incident Management: Lead teams in troubleshooting and resolving system outages, and implement preventive measures to reduce future disruptions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer ScienceInformation Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years in designing, building, and implementing large-scale software solutions in the P&C insurance industry, with a focus on mobile-first applications. Experience with Commercial Auto and Private Passenger Auto is a plus.
  • Enterprise Application Development: Proven background in designing and developing large-scale enterprise applications, especially customer-facing digital products, from both a technical development and solution architecture perspective.
  • Front-End Technologies: Proficiency in AngularTypeScriptHTMLCSS, and Web Components.
  • Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud-based solutions and SaaS platforms. Familiarity with cloud-native technologies like LambdaAPI GatewayEKS, and cloud data platforms is a plus.
  • API Integrations: Experience supporting complex applications with multiple integration points, including third-party systems via APIs.
  • Back-End Development: Strong expertise in Java/Spring Boot development.
  • Database Knowledge: Experience with PostgreSQL or similar database management systems is advantageous.
  • Mobile Development: Experience with mobile app development (iOS, Android, React Native) and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). Familiarity with UI/UX best practices is a plus.
  • Security Standards: Experience with authentication protocols like JWTOAuthOpenID, and SAML is beneficial.
  • Guidewire Experience: Familiarity with Guidewire Digital products is a plus.
  • CI/CD Tools: Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Performance Management: Proficiency with APM tools for application performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Agile Methodology: Demonstrated experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)Agile, and MVPmethodologies for executing large-scale transformation projects.
Additional Skills:
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for a variety of audiences.
